On May
18, 2017 an opening of the theme photo exhibition “Oleksandr Osmerkin: Life of
the artist in photographs” from the series “Mysteries of the museum collection” took
place in O.O.Osmerkin Art-Memorial Museum within the framework of cultural and art
educational event “A visit to the museum”, dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the
artist and pedagogue O.O.Osmerkin to International Museum Day.
More than 50 unique original and copy photographs of O.O.Osmerkin composed
the exposition of the exhibition. The photographs were once given to the museum by the
painter’s widow. They brightly reflect key moments of life and work of the artist,
depicting him as a person and a creative individual.
The photo exhibition was favourably accepted by all the visitors. Art History
PhD, senior lecturer of Art faculty of Central Ukrainian State Pedagogical University
named after Volodymyr Vynnychenko, an expert with twenty years of experience in museum
affairs O.I.Kyrychenko mentioned that it is important to organize the exhibitions that
show treasures of the funds, because a lot of very valuable items not always fins their
place in the basic exposition of the museum.Merited Architect of Ukraine, freeman
V.Ye.Kryvenko, who took part in the foundation of the museum, shared his recollections
about the painter’s widow N.H.Osmerkina, with whom he met for several times and
communicated during repair and restoration works in the memorial building. And head of
Fine Art Department of Kirovohrad Children School of Arts, member of the National Union of
Artists of Ukraine Yu.B.Vintenko told about the importance of studying and popularization
of O.O.Osmerkin creative work as Ukrainian artist with deep artistic world-view.
All the visitors received booklets “Life of artist in photographs” as a
souvenir. The booklet was printed by the museum in 2007 to the 115th anniversary of
O.O.Osmerkin. |
