On
October 6, 2017, before Artist Day and Defender’s Day of Ukraine a meet the
artistevent with a school graduate – an artist-serviceman Ihor Popovych took place in
Kirovohrad Children Art School named after O.O.Osmerkin. The event was organized by the
staff of O.O.Osmerkin Art-Memorial Museum.
Popovych Ihor Mykolaiiovych told pupils and teachers of the school
about his life of an artist – about studies in Dnipropetrovsk State Art College named
after Ye.Vuchetych, from which he graduated in 1990, specialty “artist-designer”, and
about the current perfection of his education at the Department of Art of Central Ukraine
State Pedagogical University named after V.Vynnychenko, and about his experience in the
Anti-Terrorism Operation zone with the 93rdseparate mechanized brigade. Everyone was
affected by the story of a drawing depicting a soldier that sleeps hugging an automatic
rifle. The artist told that when he drew self-propelled artillery platforms worked
fighting back the enemy while defending Donetsk airport, and despite loud booming, the
troop didn’t wake up being tired by the war paths. This drawing became an illustration
to a collection of poems by a young poet Denys Birzul which was designed by I.M.Popovych
on the inquiry of a voluntary organization.
A symbolic addition to the meet the artist event with an
artist-serviceman Ihor Popovych became a travel photo exhibition “Revolution of Dignity.
Chronicles of the events”, dedicated to the anniversary of tragic events at Maidan in
February 2014, that was exhibited in one of the halls of the museum and tells about Maidan
events from the eyes of the photojournalists of the Kropyvnytskyi town. The pupils of the
art school looked through the shown photos that documented the events of the present
history of our State, with a great interest filling with patriotic spirit and a desire to
live in a free, peaceful Ukraine. |
