On December 8, 2017 traditional events on the occasion of the awarding of the laureates of the regional award in fine art sandstudy of artnamed after Olexandr Osmerkin in 2017, dedicated to the 125th anniversary of a prominent artist and pedagogue O.O.Osmerkin, took place in O.O.Osmerkin Art-Memorial Museum.
    This prestigious art award wasinitiated by Kirovohrad Regional Councilon the application of Kirovohrad Regional Organization of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine and is established in three nominations: "national tradition", "modern tendencies", "study and history of arts".
    Laureates of regional award in fine art and study of art named after Olexandr Osmerkin in 2017 according to the decision of the jury were assigned: in nomination "national tradition" Horbenko Anatolii Oleksandrovych - a fellow-artist, People’s Artist of Ukraine (2011), head of Odesa Regional Organization of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (city Odesa) for the series of different years; in nomination “study and history of arts”Lytvynets Yuliia Oleksandrivna - director general of the National Art Museum of Ukraine (city Kyiv) for the creation of the catalogue “SPECIAL FUND. 1937-1939. From the collection of the   National Art Museum of Ukraine”; in the nomination “modern tendencies” the prize was not awarded.
    The laureates were awarded by head of Kirovohrad Regional Council O.A.Chornoivanenko and first deputy head of Kirovohrad Regional State Administration S.P.Kovalenko who handed the diplomas of a standard pattern, award pins of the laureate of the award, honorary prize of Regional Council and Regional State Administration - sculpture of "Steppe Eagle" and pecuniary part of the award.
    All the nominees for the award were given letters of appreciation: in nomination "national tradition" – Merited Artist of Ukraine O.I.Okhapkin (town Oleksandriia, Kirovohrad region), Merited Master of Folk Art of Ukraine H.H.Pylypyshyn (village Solohutove, Haivoron district, Kirovohrad region) and a painter I.A.Dubosar (village Dmytrivka, Znamianka district, Kirovohrad region); in nomination “modern tendencies” - members of the National Union of Artists of UkraineV.B.Koval (town Kropyvnytskyi) and M.V.Achkasova (town Yuzhnoukrainsk, Mykolaiv region), an artist P.S.Puzyr(town Kropyvnytskyi).
    Head of Kirovohrad Regional Organization of the National Union of artists of Ukraine A.V.Khvorost and deputy director H.V.Osipova and chief keeper of the funds V.H.Nozhenko from the staff of Kirovohrad Regional Art Museum gave congratulatory speeches to the laureates of the award. Also, musical congratulation was performed by the students of Kirovohrad Music College on a class of viola under the supervision of a teacher O.F.Klimas.
    The laureate of the award People’s Artist of Ukraine A.O.Horbenko gave the author’s painting “Autumn path to a painter’s house” (2004) to the museum funds. And on behalf of the laureate of the award Yu.O.Lutvtnets, who was absent at the event because of a reasonable excuse, Address was read in which she expressed gratitude for a high opinion of her scientific and art work.
    A prepared by the museum theme booklet “Palette of a master of painting Oleksandr Osmerkin” dedicated to the 125th anniversary was presented during the events. Photographs of the artist of different years are shown there. They vividly capture significant events of his life, creative and pedagogical paths. And also items of still life fund and of creative work from his studio. The items were given by the painter’s wife N.H.Osmerkina, and which now are shown at the memorial hall of the museum, among which a palette which was used by the artist in the studio, and a sketchbox easel with which he worked in the fresh air.
