On February 28, 2020, O.O.Osmerkin
Art-Memorial Museum held another educational art and cultural event in the book store “Knyharnia
Ye” in Kropyvnytskyi.
The leading researcher of the museum, Merited Artist of Ukraine, and an
art historian Andrii Nadezhdin told about the symbolism of the work of a prominent
Ukrainian artist – a laureate of the National Award named after Taras Shevchenko, People’s
Artist of Ukraine Ivan Marchuk. In 2007, the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph
included the artist on the list of top 100 living geniuses. Andrii Nadezhdin also
presented a unique album – Ivan Marchuk. – Kyiv: TOV “Atlant UMS”, 2004. – 519

During the lecture, names of the outstanding masters of painting,
graphic art, decorative art, and sculpture were mentioned. In some way, all of them
influenced Ivan Marchuk’s life. Among them were artists from our town – People’s
Artist of Ukraine Mykhailo Nadezhdin, members of the Union of Artists of Ukraine, a
graphic artist Volodymyr Kyrianov and portrait medalist Viacheslav Popov, who are
laureates of the Regional Award in Fine Art and History of Art named after Oleksandr
Osmerkin.
The moderator of the event was the art manager of the book store “Knyharniia
Ye” Andrii Domaranskyi. The participants also raised issues of the prestige of visual
arts in modern Ukrainian society and urgent problems of the promotion of culture. |
