On October 9, 2020, before the Artist
Day, O.O.Osmerkin Art-memorial Museum received an art gift – an owner of the gallery “Elisavetgrad”
Mykola Tsukanov gave three graphic works of Merited Artist of Ukraine Petro Chakir to the
museum collection. Earlier those works were presented to him by the artist’s daughter.
The watercolor portraits created by Ismail painter during his creative trip to the
Kirovohrad Oblast in 1982. Heroes –workers of the Bobrynets district are depicted on the
paintings. The presented portraits will become gems of the museum collection of the Modern
Ukrainian Visual Art.
In 2017, Mykola Tsukanov opened an exhibition of works by Merited
Artist of Ukraine Petro Chakir, from the family collection, in the gallery Yelisavethrad.
Petro Petrovych Chakir (1931-2012) was born in the village of
Kotlovyna, the Reninskyi district of the Odesa Oblast. Graduated from the Department of
Drawing and Painting in Moscow University of Arts (1963) and Odesa Pedagogical University
named after K.Ushynskyi (1969).A graphic artist, painter, enameller, watercolor
artist.Merited Artist of Ukraine (2009).Worked as a teacher of drawing and technical
drawing in the comprehensive school in the town of Ismail, the Odesa Oblast. Had personal
exhibitions in Ukraine, Russia, Moldova, Romania, Czechoslovakia, Hungary. Since 1987, a
constant participant of the International symposiums on hot enamel in Hungary. His works
are kept in the museum and private collections on Ukraine and abroad. Countrymen honor the
memory of the artist – in 2012 Petro Chakir was given a post mortal title “Freeman of
the town of Ismail”, and in 2016, one of the street in the town was named after him. |
