Celebration to the 155th anniversary of Yakiv Pauchenko

On March 19, 2021, celebrations dedicated to the 155th anniversary of the Yakiv Pauchenko were held in O.O.Osmerkin Art-Memorial Museum. Also, the participants of the competition for the Regional Award in Architecture, Heraldry and Vexillology, and Decorative and Applied Arts named after Yakiv Pauchenko were awarded.
In 2021, only objects (works) in the nomination “decorative and applied arts” were applied for the award. The materials for the award in the nominations “architecture” and “heraldry and vexillology” were not applied. According to the decision of the contest committee of the award from March 11, 2021, as a result of the voting taken by secret ballot, according to the approved Regulations on the Award, the laureate was not determined.
All the visitors of the art event were able to watch the unique film “Artist of the Architecture Yakiv Pauchenko” dedicated to the 155th anniversary of the architect. The film was prepared by the leading researcher of the award, Merited Artists of Ukraine Andrii Nadezhdin within the new art project “Explore O.O.Osmerkin Art-Memorial Museum Online”. The basis of the visuals were original materials handed by Nadiia Osmerkina, the widow of the artist, to the museum. Among them – copies of architectural projects and numerous documents on the architectural activity of Yakiv Pauchenko from the funds of the State Archive of the Kirovohrad Oblast and Russian State Archive of Literature and Arts, rare photographs from the photo album of the icon painting studio of the architect, which is kept in the Regional Universal Scientific Library named after D.I.Chyzhevskyi. The photographs of the elegant interiors of the memorial building from the personal archive of Merited Architect of Ukraine Vitalii Kryvenko were displayed for the first time. He stood at the origins of the museum creation and communicated with his colleague, architect Nadiia Osmerkins during her visits to our town when the museum building was renovated. He is also one of the initiators of the foundation of the award named after Pauchenko. The creative path of Yakiv Pauchenko was brightly illustrated by the color photographs of the buildings constructed on his projects. Currently, they are the landmarks of the historical center of the town of Kropyvnytskyi. The author’s photos taken by Merited Journalist of Ukraine Ihor Demchuk capture the most attractive angles of the ancient buildings, highlighting the intricacy of the architectural forms. For the first time, these photographs were exhibited in 2011 at the exhibition “Stop and Admire” dedicated to the 145th anniversary of Yakiv Pauchenko.
Another unique idea was a demonstration of the film backed up by the charming sounds of the memorial grand piano. The teacher of Music School No. 1 named after H.H.Neuhaus Alina Leontiienko performed the play by Serhii Rakhmaninov “Punchinello” and at the same time photographs, documents, architectural projects were displayed on the screen; the image of Yakiv Pauchenko, his house, which was a landmark of the architect, its creative atmosphere, where lived the family of his sister Olimpiada, her husband Oleksandr Osmerkin, and their son Sashko, Professor of Painting in the future. The finishing chords of the musical work emphasized the film frames about the decent respect given to the architect by his countrymen, including the foundation of the award named after him.
The head of the Regional Council Serhii Shulha and the deputy head of the Regional State Administration Valerii Zhaldak handed the Letters of Appreciation for the significant contribution to the development of the historical and artistic potential of the region by the famous artists who applied their works for the award in the nomination “decorative and applied arts” – Kropyvnytskyi masters of decorative art Svitlana and Tetiana Storozhenko and a painter from the town of Dolynska Serhii Yakovenko. The head of the regional center of the National Union of Folk Art Artists of Ukraine, Merited Folk Art Artist of Ukraine Oleksandra Prenko received the award on the behalf of the painter.
The congratulatory speech was made by the fellow architects – the head of the Department of the Regional Development, Town Planning, and Architecture of the Regional State Administration Viktoriia Kulikova, the chairman of the board of the Regional Organization of the National Union of Architects of Ukraine, Merited Architect of Ukraine Yurii Peniaz, who handed the Letters of Acknowledgement for the significant contribution to the preservation of the national cultural heritage with the image of the architectural sketch by Yakiv Pauchenko to the museum staff and the director of the Regional Universal Scientific Library named after D.P.Chyzhevskyi, Merited Cultural Worker of Ukraine Valentyna Zhyvotovska.
During the jubilee celebrations, the museum received some gifts – a wall clock from Kirovohrad Regional Council and a painting portrait of the architect’s house from the architect Iryna Kukharenko.
