On November 14, 2023, a lecture on mine
safety was held in the O.O.Osmerkin Art Memorial Museum, delivered by
representatives of the International Humanitarian Organization for Mine
Action (MAG).
Mine Advisory Group (MAG) is a British non-governmental
organization that is engaged in demining territories in countries where
hostilities are taking place, provides assistance to victims of mines
and small arms, and informs the population about mine safety. There is
also a branch of this organization in the city of Kropyvnytskyi.
Unfortunately, currently about a third of the territory of
Ukraine is contaminated with mines and explosive objects, and its
demining will take decades. During the period of the full-scale Russian
invasion, more than one and a half thousand Ukrainian children suffered
from the consequences of mines and ammunition.
MAG specialist Svitlana Perzhynska and her colleagues gave a
lecture for students of the art school named after O.O.Osmerkin from the
city of Kropyvnytskyi, who are currently studying in the halls of the
museum, and showed on the screen color photos of explosive objects and
other visual materials. All those present listened with interest to the
story about the threat posed by mines, how to recognize them in the area
where they may be located, as well as how to protect themselves and
their relatives from the negative consequences of their influence.
Communication between specialists and children took place in
the format of questions and answers. The information received was useful
both for students and for their teachers and museum staff. The event
took place during an air raid in the exhibition hall located in the
basement of the museum building with additional reinforced walls, which
is now used as the simplest shelter, and this fact further convinced
everyone of the importance of observing security.
At the end of the meeting, the young artists received
interactive coloring pages that will help them assimilate the acquired
knowledge, as well as flyers and notebooks with relevant information
about explosive objects. |
