On October
10, 2014 events prepared by Kirovograd museum of musical culture named after K.Szymanowski
were held in A.A.Osmerkin Art-Memorial Museum: presentation of an exhibition “Elisavetgrad
portrait of Karol Szymanowski and his author Dora Pszyszychowska (H. Neihaus’ gift)”
and a concert with the participation of Olena Zayets (soprano), Yana Storchova and
Svitlana Kontsedalova (piano), within the framework of XII Musical festival named after
Karol Szymanowski “Artist, patriot, citizen” (October 3-24, 2014). This year festival
was dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Heinrich Neuhaus’ death, 130th anniversary of
Natalia Neuhaus and Stanislawa Szymanowska, 120th anniversary of Yaroslav Ivashkevych,
110th anniversary of Michal Chromansky, 125th anniversary of Levko Revutski, 135th
anniversary of Stanislaw Ludkevycz, 200th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko.
Karol Szymanowski (October 3, 1882, the village of Tymoshivka, now
Kamyanka district, Cherkasy region – March 29, 1937, Lozanna, Switzerland) – a famous
Polish composer, pianist, pedagogue, musician and publicist. Studied in Elisabethgrad (now
Kirovograd) in musical school of Gustav Neuhaus, his second uncle and a father of a
well-known Soviet musician Heinrich Neuhaus.
A portrait of Karol Szymanowski is shown at the exhibition. It was created in
1905 by the graduate of Munich Academy of Art Dora Pszyszychowska – H.Neuhaus’ cousin.
This painting was presented to the Museum of musical culture named after K.Szymanowski by
H.Neuhaus’ grandson – pianist and musical critic Heinrich Stanislavovych Neuhaus last
year during his visit on the occasion of the events dedicated to the 125th anniversary of
H.Neuhaus in Kirovograd.
It is notable that the exhibition was visited by consul general, the head of
consular department of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Kyiv Rafal Wolski, who
came to Kirovograd for the opening of the memorial board to a famous writer, playwright
and journalist Michal Choromansky to his 110th anniversary. The consul general left a note
and shared his impressions from the exhibition and the exposition of A.A.Osmerki
Art-Memorial Museum in the Guest book. |
