May 10, 2016 an exhibition of works of contenders for Regional Award in the
sphere of architecture, heraldry and veksilology and decorative and applied art named
after Yakiv Pauchenko 2016 was opened in O.Osmerkin Art-Memorial Museum. The award was
initiated by the Kirovohrad Regional Council on application of Kirovohrad Regional
Organization of the National Union of Architects of Ukraine, of Ukrainian Heraldic Society
and the National Union of artists of Ukraine.
A religious building – construction of Orthodox Holy Assumption church and
landscaping of park named after Kruchkov on Leninhradska Str. (now Pavla Snitsara Str.) in
Kirovohrad were nominated in "architecture". The author of the project is Iryna
Drofa – member of the National Union of architects of Ukraine, chief architect of the
project, chief architect of the projects of Private Enterprise “ServisInvest”.
Heraldic symbols of the villages of Krupske, Kirovohrad district and a
picturesque Tsvitne, Oleksandrivka district were nominated in "heraldry and
vexilology" on the application of Regional Department of Ukrainian Heraldic Society.
The village Krupske was founded in the end of XX century by the family of
Germans-mennonites from East Prussian Danzig. The village of Tsvitne was famous in the end
of XIX – beginning of XX centuries as one of the biggest centre of production of chaffy
not painted dishes on the Dnipro. Both authors Volodymyr Filimonov and Vasyl Biloshapka
are well-known regional ethnographers and laureates of the award for creation of arms and
flags of the communities of Kirovohrad region.
The nomination "decorative and applied arts" was presented by two
nominees. First were the works of Larysa Harbuzenko – member of the National Union of
Artists of decorative and applied arts of Ukraine, senior lecturer of Choreographic course
of study, fine art and design faculty of Art and Graphic Subdepartment of Art Department
of Kirovohrad State Pedagogical University named after V.Vynnychenko. The works are made
in decorative painting techniques, vytynanka, fettling and batik which reflect historical
traditions of Ukrainian folk painting and introduce elements of wall ornaments of
Kirovohrad region into modern decorative and applied arts. Second was the art project “Embroidered
hut” by Raisa Aivazovska – head of Znamianka Association of Artists of decorative and
applied arts, embroiderer, collector and researcher of ornaments of Ukrainian embroidered
towels. The project shows the towels embroidered by the artist on homespun linen, which
preserve samples of ornaments and colour palette of the several generations of
embroiderers of Kirovohrad region and central Ukraine.
During the exhibition opening head of Kirovohrad Regional Council, head of
the jury Olexander Chornoivanenko mentioned that all the works brightly reflect creative
Kirovohrad region and are worth receiving the award named after a prominent fellow
countryman, one of the creators of the architectural face of the historical centre of
Now a word on the jury, who must consider all arguments, objectively judge
the works and choose laureates of the award, whose awarding would take place on July 1 on
Architecture’s Day of Ukraine in the memorial hall of the museum.
