On
October 2, 2020, O.O.Osmerkin Art-Memorial Museum hosted the jury meeting to
decide on the winners of the annual competition “Youth Palette” named after Leonid
Bondar.
According to the Statute, the competition is held to International
Children Day (June, 1). But this year, it was postponed due to the lockdown throughout
Ukraine to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 and according to the restriction to hold
public events of any kind.
The theme of this year’s competition is “Magical World of Childhood”
(Illustrations to literary works). The competition was held online in the following art
forms – painting, graphic art, sculpture, decorative art. The applied works had been
chosen in the educational establishments. The works were submitted with a questionnaire
and application by e-mail from September 7th to 27th, 2020.
The jury had to consider 211 works by 165 participants. These were
works by pupils and students of the following educational establishments of the town of
Kropyvnytskyi: Art School named after O.O.Osmerkin, Children School of Arts, studios and
classes of visual art and decorative and applied art of the general educational
institutionNo. 2, 6, 16, 17, 35, Mriia, Science Lyceum, Zavadivka gymnasium, Regional
Center Of Children And Youth’s Creativity, and Center “Yunist, as well as Central
Ukrainian State Pedagogical University named after V.Vynnychenko (Art and Graphic Art
Subdepartment of the Department of Arts) and Open International University of Human
Development “Ukraine” (specialty “Design”), Construction College (the Department
of Architecture), and College “University of Modern Knowledge” (special field “Design”),
pupils of private studios – Art-studio “Sovushka” and “Creative workshop of
Nataliia Fedorova”. Pupils of the art class of Tarashchanska Children Musical School of
Kyiv Region headed by the teacher – our townsman Oksana Zhuravel (Nadezhdina)
participated in the competition for the first time. Earlier, Oksana Zhuravel successfully
worked in the Art School named after O.O.Osmerkin.
An experienced jury was the one to judge the competition. The jury
members were the head of the Town Department of Culture and Tourism Anna Nazarets, who is
one of the initiators of the competition foundation, Ph.D. in Art History Olena
Kyrychenko, the head of Kirovohrad Regional Organization of the National Union of Artists
of Ukraine Andrii Khvorost, a painter Liudmyla Demydenko, and the head of the jury the
Merited Artist of Ukraine Andrii Nadezhdin.
According to the decision of the jury, the winners of the competition
became 27 participants aged 7-22. Their artworks were awarded Diplomas of 1st, 2nd, 3rd
degree in three nominations: I - pupils of special art educational establishments,schools
of aesthetic education; II - pupils of art studios and clubs of visual artof general
educational establishments; III - students of higher educational establishments of art and
humanities in respective age categories. 27 pupils in all nominations were awarded Letters
of Appreciation and Jury Awards from the jury and the organizing committee. The teachers,
whose pupils became the winners of the competition, were also awarded Letters of
Appreciation. All the participants whose works were noted by the jury received recognition
gifts from the Department of Culture and Tourism of the City Council of the town of
Kropyvnytskyi – creative work items (gouache, watercolor, and acrylic paints, brushes,
pencils, pastel, drawing-books), and also a theme booklet, developed by the museum
researchers, with the reproductions of the winning works.
All these awards could be received in the museum individually by the
prior arrangement and with the observation of all epidemic-prevention rules. |
