A personal exhibition of the works by Kropyvnytsky artist Olha
Kolomiiets “Ukrainian Baroque in Olha Kolomiets’s vytynanky” was presented within a
new museum art project of the series of art exhibitions “Laureates of the Regional Award
in the sphere of architecture, heraldry, vexillology and decorative and applied art named
after Yakiv Pauchenko” dedicated to the anniversary of a prominent architect Yakiv
Pauchenko. The project is aimed at popularization of the creative work of artists –
laureates of the award in the nomination “decorative and applied art” and presupposes
organization of personal exhibitions and publication of themed booklets.
Kolomiiets Olha Volodymyrivna was born on November 24,
1964 in Kirovohrad (now Kropyvnytskyi). Member of the National Union of Masters of Folk
Art (2011). Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (2012). Laureate of the
Regional Award in the sphere of architecture, heraldry, vexillology, and decorative and
applied art named after Yakiv Pauchenko in the nomination “decorative and applied art”
(2014).
Graduated with honors from Ivanivsk Textile Institute named after
M.V.Frunze (now Textile Institute of Ivanivsk State Polytechnic University, Russia) with a
degree in “artistic design and modeling of items of textile and light industry”
(1991).
Worked as a designer of embroidery at Kirovohrad clothing factory “Ukraine”.
In 1994, an exhibition of ceremonial rushnyks (embroidered towels), embroidered by the
workers of the factory after her sketches, was presented in the Department of Art, in
Kirovohrad Regional Universal Scientific Library named after D.I.Chyzhevskyi.
A participant of town, regional, national, and international
exhibitions of visual art and decorative and applied art. Personal exhibitions in
Kropyvnytskyi: in O.O.Osmerkin Art-Memorial Museum “Step” (2005) and “Solo”
(2011), Regional Local History Museum “Dialogue” (2006) and “Lace wonder” (2015),
in Regional Art Museum “I Love Ukraine” (2015), Regional Center of Folk Art “Free
Ukraine” (2014) and “Cossack Mamai” (2018).
The works are kept in the regional Art and Local History museums,
O.O.Osmerkin Art-Memorial Museum in Kropyvnytskyi, Dobrovelychkivka District Local History
Museum, in private collections in Ukraine and abroad. The current personal exhibition of
Olha Kolomiiets presents 27 vytynanky from the series “Birds”, “Cossacks”, and “Art
heritage”, which are modern author’s interpretations of significant works of Ukrainian
visual art and decorative and applied art, inspired by the ideas of Ukrainian Baroque of
the 16th – 18th centuries, historical samples of which are icon painting, plant
ornaments, and painting character Cossack Mamai, who is a sacral symbol of Ukrainian
people. The works are kept in the collections of the leading museums of Ukraine – the
National Art Museum, the Sofia Kyivska National Reserve, the National Museum of Ukrainian
Folk Decorative Art, the National Center of Folk Culture “Ivan Honchar Museum”, and
also the National Historical Museum named after Dmytro Yavornytskyi, and Art Museum in
Dnipro City, the Regional Local History Museum in Zaporizhzhia, Poltava Local History
Museum named after Vasyl Krychevskyi. |
