An online themed exhibition “Historical
Architecture in Watercolor Paintings of People’s Artist of Ukraine Anatolii
Kravchenko Based on the Flip Calendars “Sources of Memory” is dedicated to
the anniversary of the famous Ukrainian artist.
Kravchenko Anatolii Hryhorovych was born on March 13,
1956 in the Zhytomyr Oblast. A member of the National Union of Artists of
Ukraine (1992). Merited Artist of Ukraine (2012). People’s Artist of Ukraine
(2020). A laureate of the Regional Award in Fine Art and Study of Art named
after Oleksandr Osmerkin in the nomination “national tradition” (2019).
Received the Award of the President of Ukraine Jubilee Medal “25 years of
Independence of Ukraine” (2016) and the Medal of the National Union of
Artists of Ukraine “Laureate of the Award named after Tetiana Yablonska”
(2019).
Graduated from Odessa State Art College named after
M.B.Hrekov (1975) majoring in “teaching technical drawing and drawing” and
Ukrainian Printing Institute named after I.Fedorov, now Ukrainian Academy of
Printing, Lviv (1991) majoring in “graphic art”, the graduation project
“Flip Calendar “Sources of Memory”, which presented 13 easel watercolor
pages with the architectural landmarks of Ukraine for 1993 photo art journal
“Svitlo i Tin” (“Light and Shade”) in Lviv.
Works in the techniques of watercolor, painting, monumental
painting, book graphics. The favorite genre is landscape. During 1994-2012
participated in the restoration of wall paintings of the opera and ballet
theatre, philharmonics, and places of worship in Odessa. Since 1979, is an
active participant of the regional, all-Union, republican, all-Ukrainian,
and since 1986 international art exhibitions and plein airs, including the
ones within the International Watercolor Festival in Fabriano, Italy. A
member of the organizing committee of all-Ukrainian and International
Exhibition “Sea of Watercolors”. Numerous personal exhibitions in Ukraine
and abroad. The works are kept in the collections of the leading art museums
and private collections in Ukraine, Russia, Turkey, Romania, Canada, the USA,
Germany, Italy, Israel, France, Great Britain.
The exhibition presents the flip wall illustrated calendars
for 1993: “Sources of Memory”. Watercolor works by Kravchenko Anatolii
Hruhorovych” and “Watercolors of Anatolii Kravchenko”, presented by the
author to O.O.Osmerkin Art-Memorial Museum collection in 2019 at the
exhibition of works of Merited Artists of Ukraine Anatolii and Halyna
Kravchenko “Watercolor Ukraine:
Odessa-Kropyvnytskyi” within the museum art project “In an Artist’s
Studio” to Artist Day, which also were presented to the museum collection
“Modern Ukrainian Fine Art”. “For me, art is a way of life; I live through
art, experience art, take pleasure in art”, - mentioned the master of
watercolor Anatolii Kravchenko in the introductory article to
the catalog of the exhibition.
The displayed reproductions of the landscape compositions of
Anatolii Kravchenko impress with cosmic infinity of natural space and images
of historical memory preserved by architectural landmarks of the past
centuries. His watercolors attract with the special sophistication, they
reflect the real world filled with beauty, a colorful range of emotions, the
stretch of creative imagination, pure love for nature and people. As if they
say that spiritual life shouldn’t be kept for later, one must feast eyes on
beauty, appreciate every moment, and fill oneself with light.
The exhibition is completed with the photos of the People’s
Artist of Ukraine Anatolii Kravchenko made at the plein airs in
Kropyvnytskyi – the art project of the gallery “Yelisavethrad” “Art Plein
Air – 2017” dedicated to the 125th anniversary of O.O.Osmerkin” (2017) and
all –Ukrainian Plein Air within the National Art Festival “Kropyvnytskyi”
(2018), as well as the art events in O.O.Osmerkin Art-Memorial Museum – the
presentation of the exhibition “Watercolor Ukraine: Odesa-Kropyvnytslyi”
(2019) and the awarding of the Regional Award in Fine Art and Study of Art
named after Oleksandr Osmerkin” (2019). |
