Art workshops, established last year, took place in the A.A.Osmerkin Art-Memorial Museum within the framework of annual traditional cultural and art event “A visit to the museum” dedicated to the World Museum Day. The event was held with the participation of pupils and teachers – Yu.Vintenko, a member of the National Union of artists of Ukraine, and L.Yakovleva, of the fine art department of Kirovograd children’s art school. This year students of the Art Department of V.V.Vynnychenko Kirovograd State Pedagogical University – former pupils of the school Yana Kozlovskaya and Bogdan Garashchenko, joined the workshops.
This year theme of the workshops was “Museum still life”. Because still life is one of the few so called “small genres” of fine art that rather brightly characterizes the work of A.A.Osmerkin.
Items and things from the museum collection that belonged to A.A.Osmerkin were used to realize the idea of the workshops suggested by the museum. The items were repeatedly used by the artist to stage his own still lifes, such as porcelain drinking bowl with eastern ornament, draperies of different materials, colours and ornaments, decorative vase, master’s brushes, stool-stand and others. Also memorial complexes of the museum exposition were used: “Pauchenko-Osmerkin’s house”, which is composed of interior items made in icon-painting, iconostasis and artistic gliding workshop of famous Elisabethgrad architect Ya.Pauchenko, A.A.Osmerkin’s uncle, and “A.A.Osmerkin’s studio” that involves things that A.A.Osmerkin used in his work. Thus four still lifes were made and placed in three museum halls.
The result of the workshops became express-exhibition of drawings by young artists and their mentors “Museum still life” which presentation took place the same day.
