     Drobiazko Lev Yevhenovych
(1937-2017)

    Was born on May 24, 1937, in Moscow, later the family moved to Kyiv. A construct ingengineer. Ph.D. in Engineering Science(1981). A researcher of historical topography of BabiiYar.
    Father – Yevhenii Antonovych Droviazko(1898-1980), poet-translator from French, German, Italian, all Slavic languages to Ukrainian. The important work of life – a full translation of work by Dante “Divine Comedy”.
    Grandfather – Anton Lavrentiiovych Drobiazko, legal expert, member of All Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, compiling editor of “Russian-Ukrainian dictionary of legal language” (1919-1926). Wasarrested in Kyiv on July 1, 1941,on the charge of antisoviet agitation, died in Lukianivska Prison.
    Mother – Liia Naumivna Vaisblat, descended from the honoured family of the chief rabbi of Kyiv Nukhim Yankelevych Vaisblat (1864-1925) – a father of the painter Yo.N.Vaisblat(1897-1979).
    In 1966 L.Ye.Dribiazko graduated from Kyiv Institute of Construction and Engineering (Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture) with a degree in “city construction”, in 1980 - completed postgraduate studies. The author of the Theory of calculation and design of brand new light steel frame of industrial buildings, more than 100 academic papers and a number of inventions and designs honoured with Bronze, Silver and Golden medals of All-Union Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy.
    Since 2001 has been researching historical topography of Babii Yar. Thanks to his focused efforts real burial places and mass executions of the Jewish people in Kyiv were identified.
    Is the first researcher of life and creative work of the artist Yo.N.Vaisblat (1897-1979). He took great effort for rehabilitation of the repressed by the Soviet authorities name of the artist in the modern art world, for example, his works were exhibited at Kyiv vernissages many times – in Kyiv galleries “Tadzio”, “Artist”, Museum of History of Kyiv, at the exhibitions “Jewish theme in the works of Kyiv artists” in “Ukrainskyi dim” in Kyiv and “Jewish culture in Ukraine” in London. In 2001, the exhibition of paintings and graphic works of Yo.N.Vaisblat from the private collection of L.Ye.Drobiazko was successfully presented in O.O.Osmerkin Art-Memorial Museum before the 109th anniversary of the artist and pedagogue O.O.Osmerkin’s birth. In 2012, L.Ye.Drobiazko gave creative works of the artist to the museum funds.
     Died on December 12, 2017, in Kyiv.
