An exhibition “Central square of the town: chronicle pages” is a result of cooperation between the museum and a well-known photojournalist, special correspondent of the regional newspaper “Narodne slovo”, Merited Journalist of Ukraine I.M.Demchuk within the initiated by the museum art project “At the crossroads of Elisavethrad – Kirovohrad Streets”. The art project is aimed at attracting interest of general public to studying their past, presenting streets of the town in photographs that showarchitecture from the days of the town foundation till the modern time as an indissoluble history of construction of an integral urban environment and reproduce life of the dwellers.
   Demchuk Ihor Mykolaiovych - Merited Journalist of Ukraine (2017), a member of the National Union of journalists of Ukraine (1993) and the National Union of Photo Artists of Ukraine (2005), a laureate of the Award named after V.K.Vynnychenka of the newspaper “Narodne slovo” (1999) and regional journalistic award in the nomination “photojournalism” (2005), was awarded Gold medal of Ukrainian journalism (2010). Was born in 1962 in Brody, Lviv region. Graduated from Lviv State University named after I.Franko, Journalism Department (1984).Worked as a photoreporter of TARS-RATAU, Ukrinform in Kirovohrad region (1984-1995), since 1995 – photo correspondent, special correspondent of the regional newspaper “Narodne slovo”. A participant of all-Ukrainian and regional photo exhibitions. Presented exhibitions of author’s photographs if O.O.Osmerkin Art-Memorial Museum – “Stop and admire” to the 145th anniversary of Elisavethrad architect Ya.V.Pauchenko (2011), “Dvortsova Street – the past and the present”, “Velyka Perspektyvna Street – from St. Elisaveta fortress to Guardian Angel of the town” and “From caryatid to high-tech. Allurement of facade plastic art of the town on Inhul” dedicated to the150th anniversary of an artist of architecture Ya. Pauchenko with in the framework of the art project to the Town Day “At the crossroads of the streets of Elisavethrad-Kirovohrad” (2014, 2015, 2016).
   The exhibition presents more than 30 colour photographs of the central square of Kropyvnytskyi which appears as world where dwellers, keeping historical past and searching a way out of complex labyrinths of the present, create the future of Ukraine. Exposition is completed with format photoinstallations-collages created by the leading researcher of the museum, Merited Artist of Ukraine A.M.Nadezhdin. The photoinstallations-collages are a kind of chronicle of the history of the central square of the town, which at first was a town avenue, in the Soviet times and until recently had the name of a communist figure Kirov, and now is named after Heroes of Maidan.
   History of the central square of the town is no less remarkable, than history of the streets. It remembers folk festivals and people protests, joyful zoo and visits of “star” pop singers, annual New Year tree, the Orange Revolution of 2004 and Revolution of Dignity of 2013 in the result of which on February 23, 2014 Kirov monument was dismantled and the base turned into an improvise memorial to Heavenly Hundred Heroes.
