The personal exhibition of paintings by Valerii Davydov, a member of the National Union of
Artists of Ukraine, "Valerii Davydov's Outdoor Travels" is presented as part of the museum art
project "Laureates of the Oleksandr Osmerkin Regional Prize in the Field of Fine Arts and Art
History".
Davydov Valerii Mykolayovych was born on December 21, 1954 in the city of Kirovohrad
(now Kropyvnytskyi).
Graduated with honors from the Odesa State Art School named after M.B.Grekov (1984) and
St. Petersburg State Academic Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I. Yu.
Repin (1993).
Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (2005). Laureate of the regional award in the field of fine arts and art history named after Oleksandr
Osmerkin in the nomination "national tradition" (2018).
He worked as a designer of the Kirovohrad Art and Production Workshops of the Art Fund of
the Ukrainian SSR (1984-1988), the director of the Kirovohrad Regional Art Museum, now the
Museum of Art of the Kirovohrad Regional Council (1998-2001).
Actively engaged in teaching activities - senior lecturer of the Department of Fine Arts and
Design of the Faculty of Arts, currently the Department of Art Education of the Faculty of
Pedagogy, Psychology and Arts, Central Ukrainian State University named after Volodymyr
Vynnychenko (2001-2021), lecturer at the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts
(Kirovohrad Faculty) and art school named after O.O.Osmerkin.
The initiator of the establishment of the regional outdoor art event "Kirovohrad region
through the eyes of artists" with the aim of developing the best traditions of fine art and educating
creative youth (1998).
In co-authorship with Artem Kyndrytskyi, a member of the National Union of Artists of
Ukraine, he was the stage designer of the play based on Ivan Franko's " Fox Mykyta" at the
Kirovohrad Regional Academic Music and Drama Theater named after M.L. Kropyvnytskyi (2006).
Together with the students of the art faculty of the University named after V. Vynnychenko created
a mural near the "Berloga" time club in Kropyvnytskyi (2015).
Participant of all-Ukrainian and international art exhibitions and plein-air exhibitions - All-
Ukrainian art exhibitions "Women of Ukraine - Artists" (Kyiv, 2002), To the Artist's Day (Kyiv,
2003), Christmas art exhibition (Kyiv, 2003), Autumn art exhibition (Kyiv, 2004) , Graphics
Triennial (Kyiv, 2006), "Picturesque Ukraine" (Donetsk, 2002, Lviv, 2003, Yagotyn, 2004,
Kirovohrad (Kropyvnytskyi), 2005, Kropyvnytskyi, 2019), All-Ukrainian and International
Biennial Exhibition "Sea of Watercolors" (2016 , 2018, 2020), Repin Plein Air International
(Chuhuiiv, 2020, 2021).
He participated in the National Project "Ukrainians in the World", for which he created five
portraits, including a portrait of the artist Oleksandr Osmerkin (2008), an exhibition of Kirovohrad
artists in the National Reserve "Sofiia of Kyiv" as part of the project "Treasures of Ukrainian
museums on the holy land of Sofiia of Kyiv" (2009), a joint art project of the Yelisavetgrad gallery
and the O.O.Osmerkin "Art plein air dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the birth of Oleksandr
Osmerkin" (Kropyvnytskyi, 2017).
Personal exhibitions were exhibited in the Art Salon of the Kirovohrad Regional Organization
of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (2005), the Kirovohrad Regional Art Museum, now the
Museum of Arts of the Kirovohrad Regional Council ("Teacher and Pupils", 2006, "Declaration",
2016), the Regional Universal Scientific library named after D.I.Chizhevskyi ("Queen of Silence",
2022).
The works are stored in the Art Museum and O.O.Osmerkin Art Memorial Museum
(Kropyvnytskyi), private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
In art, he prefers realistic and academic painting, the genre range is landscape, portrait, still
life, story picture. A separate direction of creativity is icon painting, the author of the icons in the
Transfiguration Cathedral and the monumental painting in the Cathedral Church of the
Annunciation of the Holy Virgin in the city of Kropyvnytskyi.
The exposition of the exhibition consists of almost forty pictorial sketches made by the artist
in the years 2001-2023 in his native Kropyvnytskyi and during open-air travels in Kirovohrad
Oblast, in the city of Odessa where he was a student, and in the homeland of the world-famous
painter Illia Repin in Chuhuiev, Kharkiv Oblast, where the XXII was held in the summer of 2021
International Repin Plein Air, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence, under
the slogan: "Repin is an artist in love with Ukraine." |
