The exhibition presents creative works by Ukrainian artist Honoured painter of Ukraine S.Shapovalov within the framework of initiated by the museum art project “Laureates of Regional Alexander Osmerkin Award in fine arts and study of art”.
  Shapovalov Sergiy Gavrylovych was born on May 15, 1943 in the village of Ingulo-Kam’yanka, Novgorodka district, Kirovograd region. Graduated from Kyiv State Art Institute (1974) of fine arts and architecture (1974), painter, teachers: People’s artists of Ukraine V.Shatalin and T.Golembievska.
   Worked as a painter of Kirovograd art-industrial workshops of Art Fund of the Ukrainian SSR (1974-1989). Member of the National Union of artist of Ukraine (1989).
   Laureate of the Regional Alexander Osmerkin Award in fine arts and study of art in the nomination “national tradition” (2006) for original creative works of the 1980s-1990s, that state and develop fundamentals of Ukrainian realistic painting based on traditions of the national art school. In 2008 was awarded Honoured artist of Ukraine. In 2011 was submitted to the town board of honor in the nomination “Best art worker”.
   Began exhibiting since 1981. Participant of regional, all-Ukrainian and foreign art exhibitions. More than 10 personal exhibitions were opened not only in Kirovograd, Kyiv but in Guadalajara, Spain (2004). But special attention should be paid to the personal exhibition “Blossom, Ukraine!” that took place in the National museum of Taras Shevchenko in Kyiv in 2010. Woks are kept in museums, private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
Gives preference to realistic manner of writing, to landscape and still life, works are written on pastose painting that is the trademark of the painter.
Current exhibition presents nearly 30 paintings written in the last two years. Among them – portraits, vivid flower still lifes and landscapes of Kirovograd which are illuminated by love to the native land, full of colorful rainbow and amaze spectators with expression and inexhaustible optimism.
